Honouring Zambia’s Heroes Through Sport & Leadership

Our House System

At Little Legends, Sports Day is more than just competition, it is a celebration of teamwork, courage, leadership, perseverance, and school spirit. Legends are proudly placed into Houses named after inspiring Zambian historic figures whose stories continue to encourage excellence and character within our school community.

Chibesa House — Courage

Chibesa House is named after Mama Chibesa Kankasa, affectionately known as Zambia’s “National Cook.” During Zambia’s independence struggle in 1960, she courageously sat on a box of ammunition to prevent colonial police officers from using it against Zambian nationalists during a rally. Her bravery and selflessness made her a powerful symbol of courage in the face of adversity.

Chona House — Integrity

Chona House is named after Mainza Mathias Chona, a respected Zambian politician and diplomat who served as Vice President and Prime Minister. He played a key role in Zambia’s independence movement and later demonstrated remarkable humility and integrity by stepping aside to allow Kenneth Kaunda to lead the United National Independence Party (UNIP).

Matete House — Perseverance

Matete House is named after Samuel Matete, Zambia’s world-renowned track and field athlete and one of Africa’s greatest hurdlers. In 1991, he made history by becoming the first Zambian world champion in track and field. His dedication, discipline, and determination continue to inspire Legends to persevere and strive for excellence.

Zanco House — Strength & Resilience

Zanco House is named after Zanco Mutembo Mpundu, widely remembered as Zambia’s “Superman.” In 1963, while imprisoned and chained by colonial authorities, he displayed incredible strength and resilience by breaking free despite overwhelming odds. His story remains a symbol of courage, resilience, and determination.
